After falling 2-1 late in semi-final #1 of the Jamaica Football Federation Tier 2 competition to Chapelton Maroons FC from Clarendon, Treasure Beach FC looks to rebound in semi-
final #2 this Wednesday, July 27th. With both semi-final matches being played at Drax Hall in St. Ann, the match was rescheduled from this past Saturday due to several Treasure Beach FC players being ill. The match is scheduled to kick off at 3:00 PM.
Treasure Beach FC President Paul Bernard believes the most important lesson learnt so far during this season's quest to secure a bid to the Premier League, "is that commitment is the substance of success. Having achieved a semi-final spot against all the odds is a testimony to that commitment and we have learned that dedication and constant motivation is critical to that success".
To be successful in semi-final #2 against the Maroons, Treasure Beach will need to convert on their scoring chances and slow the potent Maroon offense most notably down the right flank which found seams in the defense and created multiple scoring opportunities for the Maroons.
In the first semi-final, Kadeem Stone's lone goal for Treasure Beach came
in the 86th minute after some nifty footwork on the right allowed a pass across the face of goal which Stone happily tucked under the keeper to tie the match 1-1. Stone's goal made for some splendid celebration and a sigh of relief that proved short-lived.
Coach Ricketts is confident Treasure Beach will rebound and avenge the semi-final loss in the 89th minute loss late in semi-final #1. He states, "The most important lesson we have learnt throughout the season is that unity is strength and faith moves mountains. With determination and confidence we can achieve anything".
The first semi-final match at Drax Hall saw Faulkland FC and Falmouth United tie in a scoreless draw. The second match featured another scoreless draw after full time sending the game into Penalty Kick shootouts.
Faukland FC prevailed in the shootout with adept saves and making the most out of their penalty kicks. With the win, Faukland FC will now be promoted to the Premier League for the 2023 season.
Treasure Beach FC will need to win this semi-final clash on goal differential if they too will join the Premier League in 2023.
